The first news is sad as Graham Armitage died in December. He and Angela had been faithful helpers with the library for years and Graham gave me personally enormous encouragement for what I do. He was a lovely man and is a great loss, not just to Angela.

Marcelle is doing library duties every second roster as she also does tea duty and it gets complicated. Debbie is still taking a break while undergoing treatment, and I know you will all, with me, wish her well and a speedy recovery.  Yvonne has returned to the fold having completed her treatment and it is wonderful to have her back. Ruth Carter has also returned from her travels and is available for duties once again, so I also gladly welcome her back.

The early service has nine helpers this roster so duties are well spaced apart, and the later service has six helpers. However once every six weeks is still not too arduous to my mind. Therefore PLEASE 9.30 ladies (and I always say this, but unfortunately when I have been on duty at the early service it hasn’t happened so I am sure I am not alone in having to wait) be there as early as possible to take over from the previous person. I would like to suggest 9.10 as being a reasonable time to arrive for this handover. And once again, 7.30 ladies, you are under no obligation to wait unreasonably, so if you have not seen the next library helper when it is time for you to leave, then please just lock up and go.

When I have been on duty, displaying books has really encouraged people to take them out….somehow it is so much easier than browsing through the shelves….so please continue to do this when you are on duty. Also please display the DVDs as they need exposure and this section is slowly growing and I will buy more if there is enough demand. Please remember to write any loans for these in the register.

I am away quite a bit in the next few months so hopefully the library will run smoothly. It is a team effort and once again I really appreciate all your help to make our library a constantly available facility to one and all.  THANKYOU!!
