Thursday
Afternoon Fellowship Group
The
group meets on Thursday afternoons in the small hall from 2pm to
4pm. Our aim is to
enjoy fellowship and to work to raise money to care for those in
need.
Some ladies enjoy reconditioning greeting cards.
These are on display in the foyer and are very reasonably
priced. Money raised
from the sale of these cards goes towards the Building Fund. The
notelets are so useful for a quick message to someone or a thank-you
for a kindness. Many
thanks to members of the parish for the donation of used cards.
We are in need of suitable card – off-cuts of any colour
– to enable us to continue this service to the parish.
To raise money for outreach we run a Craft Table at intervals.
Here again the members of the parish help support our efforts
with donations of items for sale – thank you.
Raffles are run whenever possible and provide further funds.
We have supported and visited the Aids Home in Roodepoort,
provided money to Meals on Wheels for a Christmas dinner for the
aged, and have bought supplies for the Soup Kitchen in Claremont
which provides a meal every day for children in the DeLaRey and
Claremont areas. Our
visit to the Soup Kitchen was very enlightening and made us aware of
the poverty in the area. The children were so well behaved and ate
everything set before them on the table, waiting to thank God for
blessing them with food and to thank the ladies who prepared the
food, before starting their meal.
We plan to purchase supplies at regular intervals.
New members would be very welcome. Our
group is very small and would so appreciate new ideas.
If you have a talent or gift, please come and share with us.
Do you like to knit? We can provide you with wool and you
could help knit knee rugs for Ekuthuleni.
The patchwork quilts – very plain – which we made were
greatly appreciated by those who needed the warmth.
Please contact Jenni Fraser (475 5094) if you need more
information.
